Wampi Tree

Wampi is native to China which makes it cold hardy to light frost. It is grown throughout SE Asia and is particularly popular in Thailand. It is related to citrus and has a sweet and yet slightly tart flavour. Wampi trees also make lovely landscaping specimens with their weeping foliage.
Wampi ( also spelled Wampe) fruit is very high in vit C. They can be eaten fresh or be used in jam, desserts or smoothies. Mature trees can get 50 kilos per year.
In a sheltered area this tree will grow coastally all the way down to Melbourne. It usually flowers within 3-4 years after planting and is highly recommended.
