rhizome for Tropical and Coastal subtropical only
Magnificent chunky red and yellow pendulous flowers make this a fantastic specimen heliconia. It's perfect around pool beds and anywhere where you want an over the top Tropical Baroque feeling. Here in the Wet Tropics it grows quite easily but SE Queenslanders will find it may prefer a little extra pampering in a very good microclimate ( If you aren't sure what a microclimate is please refer to our blog articles)

Pogonantha in River Heads QLD
5 December 2023Beautiful heliconia, very healthy and well packed. Acclimate for a month before planting in the ground and don't over water it. Young heliconias will rot very quickly if given too mach water. I know, I have killed few of them. My Pogonanthas are acclimating right now and all is good so far.

Hi Mark, I've heard of Pogonantha growing well in Sydney but it may be a fluke. Please keep in touch and let me know how you go with the Danglers. BTW you have great taste in heliconias!!!
