Cherry Guava Strawberry Guava (Psidium littorale var. longpies)
Cherry Guava is also known as Strawberry Guava and is considered to have the best flavor of any Guava. Round fruits are either bright red or yellow, with a strawberry-like taste. This guava withstands more cold than common guava, and survives temperatures down to 22 degrees Fahrenheit. The red-fruited variety is more cold-hardy than the yellow-fruited strawberry guava. Cherry Guavas are excellent for landscaping, can be grown in large containers and fruit, can also be grown as an ornamental hedge.
Cherry Guavas are exceptionally rich in vitamin C and are good source of niacin, potassium and dietary fibre.
Eaten fresh, but can also be used for jellies, jams, ice cream, sauces, cakes, tarts, drinks and chutney.
