A little stunner with a suprising amount of versatility. Because it flowers on first year growth this heliconia is perfect for pot culture. It also has a degree of cold hardiness and will grow in Sydney in a sheltered position with a great microclmate. Most smaller growing eliconias are runners but Heliconia mathiasiae ‘Mildred’ is a clumping variety perfect for smaller gardens or a tropical courtyard garden. The plants we are selling are flowering size, multistemmed and will be barerooted for posting. Foliage will be cut back to 50 cm.
