You are purchasing a well established plant 3--40 cm tall in a pot.
Abiu fruit has a unique flavour reminiscent of vanilla and carmel custard. Because it bruises easily it isn't often seen in supermarkets, thankfully it grows easily, fruits quickly and prolifically in a tropical or subtropical climate.
The fruit is considered a delicacy is round to oval, yellow and has a pleasant textured white center. Abiu is best eaten chilled and fresh and can be used in fruit salad.
